ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Seniors Tatiana Coleman and Carleigh Williams spent their careers rewriting history at UCF. It stands to reason, then, that they wouldn’t stop after college.
Coleman and Williams became the first Black and Gold duo selected in the NWSL draft on Friday. Coleman was chosen by the WNY Flash with the 18th overall pick and Williams heard her name called with the 31st pick by the Houston Dash.
“I am fortunate for the opportunity to continue to play the game I love,” Coleman said. “I’m excited for the challenge at the next level. I couldn’t have gotten to where I am without the support of my family, coaches and teammates. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience at UCF and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”
Added Williams: “Today was a dream come true. I am thrilled to be continuing my career in Houston, and I’m looking forward to meeting up with Tati again. I am thankful to my family and everyone at UCF who helped me make this possible.”
