Men’s soccer adds seven newcomers for 2015 season

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men’s soccer team is set to bring in seven new players, featuring a mix of four Florida high school players, two out of state high school players and one transfer. The seven newcomers will join the 22 returning players from the 2014 roster as the Argonauts men’s soccer team is set to begin competition on September 5th at home against the University of Tampa.

UWF Men’s Soccer Newcomers

Jacob MurrayWest Palm Beach, Fla. (Warner University/Seminole Ridge HS) – Goalkeeper

Murray competed for Warner University last season, seeing action in three games for the Royals. Murray did not concede a goal in 135 minutes of action in 2014. Prior to Warner, Murray was a three-year standout for Seminole Ridge High School.

Michael StarkeyHuddersfield, England (Newsome HS) – Defender

Starkey comes to UWF after playing as a central midfielder for Newsome High School and playing internationally for Huddersfield Town U18’s.

Owen MunroKintore, Scotland (Lawton Chiles HS) – Defender

A former center back at Lawton Chiles HS, Munro received multiple accolades during his high school career including All-Big Bend Second Team and being named Team MVP for three consecutive seasons from 2013-15. Munro helped lead his team to three four consecutive District Championship teams and a Regional and State Championship run during his senior campaign.

Thomas KobetzBaton Rouge, La. (Catholic HS) – Midfielder

Kobetz becomes an Argonaut after playing four years of varsity soccer that were split between Catholic High School and University Laboratory School from 2012-2015. Over his career, he tallied 36 goals while dishing out 18 assists in route to a Louisiana All-State Overall Most Valuable Player award and Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year runner-up recognition.

Stephen EnderlinLittle Rock, Ark. (Catholic HS for Boys) – Forward

A two-time All-State selection in his home state of Arkansas, Enderlin joins the men’s soccer program at UWF after recording 24 goals and 19 assists during his senior campaign at Catholic HS for Boys. Enderlin earned varsity letters all four years in high school, helping lead his team to conference championships in three of his four years and an Arkansas state runner-up finish during his freshman season.

Thomas MiddletonJacksonville Beach, Fla. (Duncan U Fletcher HS) – Defender

Middleton, a 2015 graduate of Duncan U Fletcher HS and a three-year varsity soccer team member, begins his UWF career after captaining the Duncan U Fletcher HS boys’ soccer squad and leading the team in scoring. Accolades for Middleton include being named Team Offensive MVP and a member of the All-Gateway Conference Third Team.

Kameron Bethell – Navarre, Fla. (Navarre HS) – Midfielder

Bethell comes to UWF after a four-year career at Navarre High School, where he captained the team all four years. For his senior year performance, Bethell was named Pensacola News Journal Player of the Year. Bethell played an integral role in helping Navarre win back-to-back District Championships in 2014 and 2015.
