Bartlinski adds eight to UWF women’s soccer roster

PENSACOLA, Fla. – University of West Florida women’s soccer coach Joe Bartlinski has announced the addition of nine student-athletes to the 2015 team. Five of the eight newcomers are Florida natives, and two of the other three are international signings.

The two international newcomers are freshman goalkeeper Ana Chumik (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags HS) and freshman midfielder and forward Sofie Broch-Lips (Aarhus, Denmark/Marselisborg Gymnasium).

Three college transfers will join the team, including Amber Pennybaker (Indianapolis, In./Tampa), Kaley Ward (Saint Cloud, Fla./Tampa) and Eleana Colvin (Pace, Fla./Darton State).

Three true freshmen from Florida finish up the list of newcomers, as Elizabeth Vickers (Panama City, Fla./Mosley HS),Kelsey Douglas (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Choctawhatchee HS) and Kayla Douglas (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Choctawhatchee HS) will be joining the Argonauts in the fall.

UWF Women’s Soccer Newcomers

Ana Chumik – Riga, Latvia (Riga Kengarags HS)

Chumik played goalkeeper for Riga Kengarags High School in Latvia and earned a spot on the Latvian Schools Championship team and was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper three times. She is also a part of the Latvian National Team, which earned second-place finishes in the Baltic Cup in 2012 and 2013, and won the Baltic Cup in 2014.

Eleana Colvin – Pace, Fla. (Pace HS/Darton State)

Colvin is a local to the Pensacola area, having played soccer and ran track at Pace High School. She attended Darton State College after high school, where her team won regional and district championships in each of her two seasons there.

Amber Pennybaker – Indianapolis, In. (North Central HS/Tampa)

Pennybaker totaled 10 goals and 13 assists in her three years with Tampa. 2014 was a banner year for Pennybaker, as she was named to the All-South Region second team and finishing in the top 20 of the Sunshine State Conference in goals and assists.

Kaley Ward – Saint Cloud, Fla. (Harmony HS/Tampa)

Ward was named county player of the year as a senior and was an Orange Belt Conference All-Conference performer three times while attending Harmony High School. In two years at the University of Tampa, Ward tallied six goals and 12 assists and started 29 of the 40 games she appeared in with the Spartans.

Sofie Broch-Lips – Aarhus, Denmark (Marselisborg Gymnasium)

In addition to playing at her high school, Broch-Lips played for Skovbakken IK, a part of Denmark’s highest women’s league, for three years. She was also a part of Denmark’s U16, U17 and U19 youth national teams, competing in the European Championships in Israel during the summer of 2015.

Elizabeth Vickers – Panama City, Fla. (Mosley HS)

Vickers totaled 73 goals and 25 assists in her four-year high school career and led the county in goals scored each year from 2012-2015. She earned all-county, all-district and all-state honors as a senior, and won district championships in all four seasons.

Kelsey Douglas – Fort Walton Beach, Fla. (Choctawhatchee HS)
Douglas served as a right wing and a defender for Choctawhatchee High School’s varsity soccer team in each of her four seasons. She was chosen to play in the Subway All-Star game and was awarded a spot on the all-area team as a junior and as a senior.

Kayla Douglas – Fort Walton Beach, Fla. (Choctawhatchee HS)

Douglas led Choctawhatchee HS with 23 goals scored as a senior and led the team in assists as a sophomore and as a junior. She was a member of two district-championship winning teams and twice earned a spot on the all-county first team.
